UMLANDO WETHU

UMLANDO WETHU, is a collection combining documentaries, exhibitions, lectures, podcasts, native marketing, social media dialogues and a comic book, all aimed at contributing to the reconstruction of African heritage and scholarship.

To make African history inescapable part of national popular culture and sustainable dialogue.

  • Promote oral history, cultural heritage and language.
  • Assembled an editorial team consisting of historians, linguists and writers.
  • Developed a style guide for the supplement including design guidelines for visual identity elements, icons, interface components, and headings.
  • Developed a library of photography and video reflective of cultural heritage and ceremonies.
  • Published bi-weekly supplement inserted in Bayede-Iphepha laboHlanga.
  • Produced 10 podcast shows for public consumption. Shows were distributed through various platforms.
  • Regular hosting of oral history colloquiums and YouTube interviews
