Notably, in 2018, we garnered a nomination for the esteemed Nat Nakasa Award for Media Integrity from the South African Editor’s Forum—an unprecedented achievement for a vernacular newspaper.
  • Further solidifying our commitment to innovation and sustainability, the publication was handpicked by the South Africa Media Innovation Program (SAMIP) in the same year. This selection marked our inclusion in a multi-year initiative designed to catalyze digital innovation among independent media outlets in South Africa.
  • Since 2020, Igunundu has spearheaded a strategic campaign to facilitate Bayede-Iphepha LaboHlanga’s seamless transition to the digital landscape. Bolstered by an adept in-house production team, our podcast studio has been instrumental in crafting compelling content for B2B shows and tailor-made branded podcasts. Our clientele spans a diverse spectrum, ranging from community radio stations and start-ups to well-established brands.
  • Under the umbrella of this transformative campaign, we proudly achieved the distinction of being the first vernacular title to house a dedicated podcast studio, setting a pioneering standard in the industry. To date, our podcast studio has successfully produced an impressive tally of 100 episodes, further attesting to our dedication to staying at the forefront of digital media innovation.
